Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Psalm 100:3
If you desire to know the location where your clothes were manufactured, one simply looks at the tag. God made us. He made each of us different and special; we’re all unique, one of a kind, masterpieces. And He has a plan for us, in fact He has prepared us so that His destiny for us exactly fits with who we are and will be a delight to us (see Ephesians 2:10).
However we often try to recreate ourselves, to present something other than what we are. Other than what we were manufactured to be. It’s usually because we think that who we are is not good enough, and that being someone or something else would get us more attention or acceptance. So we seek to change ourselves, to reconstruct ourselves to fit with our own plans and purposes. This is where the enemy slips in. He whispers lies of neglect, devalued and imperfection. And then like Adam and Eve in the garden, we begin to hide or try to cover ourselves. Like the covering of the fig leaves, we try to remake our self; we seek to become our own creator.
But Psalm 100 tells us we can’t deny that we’re God’s workmanship. We may be wounded, we may seem imperfect but God tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God is the Creator and Healer of those He’s made. If we’re trying to solve our problems by recreating ourselves we’re at odds with God’s truth, and this will never be a place of peace. We need to come to Father God just as we are, for His healing and restoration. Then each one of us can find the truth of who He created us to be, and we can live in that truth. ‘It is He who has made us and we are his people’.
Prayer for today: All knowing Father who sits in heaven, thank You for making me, me. Forgive me for denying something of Your unique creation and trying to present to the world what I’ve constructed myself to be. I recognize I’ve done this to cover my sinfulness and wounds, but it isn’t what You wanted for me. Help me to be honest with myself, and open up my heart for Your healing and restoration, so I can be fully who You made me to be. I pray this in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
