Surrender and submit
So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. James 4:7
There are two paradoxes of the Christian faith – submission is a sign of great strength and weakness. One verse says submission brings victory, as seen in the above scripture from James 4:7, ‘Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you’, and the other is that weakness brings strength, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness’ (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Although the world may see submission as a sign of weakness, in God’s eyes, it is a voluntary choice that we make to come under His protection and His guidance. If we hide ourselves under God’s wings then His authority and power protect us.
God can and will use terrifying experiences to teach you spiritual lessons. It’s in these moments we understand the fullness of God’s strength to achieve what we thought was impossible.
Prayer for today: Dear God help me to remain firm in You as I surrender to your testing. Amen.
