Monday Morning Manna
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Psalm 37:23
Yesterday we heard from Rev. Dr. Orville Harris speaking from Psalm 37:23-25, this sermon titled The Steps of Righteous is guided by God. Rev. Harris sermon aimed – do not be afraid of the evil that surrounds you because your steps are being protected by God. The background scripture puts it this way:
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.” Psalm 37:23-25
We walk, we fall, we try, we fail, we set out and then we stumble, in each way we grow discouraged in our journey of life, but never forget you may fail a test but you can still pass the course. That is what David’s life shows us – in the end God has the final say. In a time of uncertainty this message was truly encouraging to know that though we may trip, even if we fall, God is there to catch us.
This week find courage in reading the Word of God. In the end the one who allows God to rule over his life, has his steps ordered by God. The word “ordered” here means established. As God said to Joshua he has said to us, this is an order your steps are already made in heaven and the deal is settled (or established) ordained by the creator of the world – God. That doesn’t mean there will never be trials and tribulations but in spite of our failures and shortcomings, the Lord will not cast us aside. It is already settled. Your journey is already settled in God. In a time of uncertainty it is encouraging that we are where we are because God has planted us here. God would send a word to remind us we are established.
