Sing unto the Lord
Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord, all the earth. Psalm 96:1
How often do you sing, out loud, your soul breaking forth in worship? It matters not if you sing off-key, well as long as you aren’t singing a solo, or in the choir. The Bible encourages us to “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” Psalm 96:1-4:
Oh, sing to the Lord a new song!
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.
For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.
Now more than ever, we need to open our mouths and sing about the One in whom our soul delights. In these current times, we ought to sing and refresh our soul. Today’s verse declares we are to sing. Sing this old hymn if you know it! It’s a well-known one and if not google it and listen to its message:
When peace like a river, attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to know
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Do you hear the help and hope that just poured out of your mouth? Does your spirit feel renewed? Did your heart receive the protection provided by the Lord? In this season, we may be confused about how to respond and react but do not be confused about the One who is in charge; God who is our beginning and our end.
Sing, sing, sing unto the Lord! Whether at home or gathered with the church, sing in times of rejoicing and sing in times of trouble. Glorify the Lord your God. Open your mouth and He will fill it!
