Spirit Lead Me
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. Psalm 27:5
I read a story of a father with his son and a very interesting train ride. It was clear to others the little boy was nervous about stepping over the gap and getting into the train. It was the words of his father that caused others to pay attention immediately. He said, “Don’t be afraid – I’m holding you”. Today, God says to us His children, do not be afraid – be strong and courageous for I am with you. These words like the little boy gives us such a sense of security and of being loved and protected. Feelings such as uncertainty, vulnerability and weakness come with seasons of pain, but our heavenly Father says to us “Don’t be afraid – I’m holding you!”’
Psalm 27:14, in a similar verse says – ‘Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord’. When the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness, He went in ‘filled with the Spirit’ and came out of it ‘in the power of the Spirit’. And so it will be with us. We’ll walk out from this trial, this season of life so much stronger than when we went into it. We’ll walk out in the power of the Spirit, and on into all the good plans God has for us (Jeremiah 29:11).
Be encouraged and hang on to the progress already made. Let go of the past, let it go and press on.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, help us to press on and not get stuck in what was. Help us to look forward to the life You have in store. Help us to see Your love, mercy, grace and peace, pursuing all that You have purposed for our lives. Amen.
