When God’s Ways Are Higher

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

I love God’s Word. I love remembering it and clinging to it in the good moments, the bad moments, and even the ugly moments of life. One of the things I especially love about God’s Word is the reminder that God’s thoughts, plans, ways, methods, and strategies are far beyond my limited understanding. His ways can take me places I could have never imagined, and His plans can unfold in ways that surpass every expectation I have ever had.

And honestly, that is a wonderful thing. Because what kind of God would He be if we could completely wrap our minds around Him? If we could figure Him out, predict everything He would do, and understand every detail of His plan, He would be no bigger than our own understanding.

But God is bigger! God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. You don’t have to understand everything God is doing to trust that He knows exactly what He is doing.

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You that Your ways are higher than my ways and Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts. But today, I choose to trust You even when I cannot understand You. Help me to see my circumstances through the eyes of faith. Remind me that You are working even when I cannot see it, and that Your plans for me are greater than anything I could imagine for myself. You are infinitely bigger than anything I could ever ask or think. So I will trust Your ways, trust Your timing, and trust Your plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
