Use Your Core
So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:10
Some days I find myself sitting in a chair for too long. In these moments I am reminded to use the core to keep my body in an upright position. The core is the center or trunk of your body, from the shoulders to the knees. During active exercise, using your whole body to run, swim or ride a bike means that your body is functioning to its maximum potential. Just swimming with arms and a kick, or riding a bike just using your legs, means you can get somewhere, but not as effectively and efficiently as you might.
Likewise, if we try to live the Christian life without a core, we will fail. We need the core, the power from God that is meant to enable us to live efficiently and effectively for the kingdom. When Jesus enters our lives and fills us with His Holy Spirit we are able to be moved along in the stream of His Spirit. It is with this power we can fulfill our destiny, make a difference in our generation, and be an effective witness, disciple, and servant, under the sovereignty and lordship of Jesus Christ.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, forgive me the times when I live my life under my own limited power and not in the power of Your Spirit. Let me live each day pleasing to You and fruitful in everything that I do, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
