Remember Who Brought You Here
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him. Psalm 40:3
Yesterday, we talked about our testimony the story of what God has brought us through. Today, let’s take that thought one step further. Not only should we remember what God has done, but we should also remember who did it. It is easy to celebrate the blessing and forget the Blesser. We can become so excited about the answered prayer that we forget the One who answered it. We can enjoy the provision and forget who provided it, but Scripture repeatedly calls us to remember. The Israelites were constantly reminded to remember what God had done for them. Why? Because remembering God’s faithfulness gives us confidence when we face something new.
There will always be another mountain, another decision, another season, another challenge, another prayer. And when that next challenge comes, we need to remember the God who brought me here will not abandon me here. Psalm 40:3 says: “He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.” — Psalm 40:3 (NIV)
When you worship God after everything you’ve been through, you’re declaring that your circumstances didn’t get the final word.
Sometimes the miracle isn’t that God removed the entire struggle. Sometimes the miracle is that He gave you strength to walk through it. Sometimes the miracle isn’t that the storm never came. It’s that you discovered God was with you in the storm. Sometimes the miracle isn’t that you got everything you wanted. It’s that God taught you that He was enough. That’s worth remembering because the enemy of our faith is often forgetfulness. Our history with God matters, not because the past guarantees that every future circumstance will unfold exactly as you want, but because your past gives you evidence of God’s character. Your praise becomes a declaration: “I remember.” And I remember that God made a way.
Prayer for Today: Loving Father, I ask You to help me remember. When I become anxious about the future, remind me of Your faithfulness in my past. When I forget what You have done, bring those moments back to my heart. Thank You for every time You carried me when I couldn’t carry myself. Thank You for every door You opened, every provision You made, every prayer You answered, and every moment You gave me strength. Help me never to become so focused on what I still need that I forget everything You have already done. Today, I choose to remember, and as I remember, let my heart worship. You are the faithful God who brought me here, and I trust You with wherever You are taking me next. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
