Remain in Me, and I will remain in you….. John 15:4
Recently there was a power cut at our home. It was during the late afternoon which made it easy to adjust, we called it a night as the sun set. The following day even with tree limbs down all in our neighborhood everything seemed as normal. Later, we discovered that many others did not have working internet service. And two days later power was cut once again, this time it lasted for a full day. It turned that in order to restore power to our neighborhood, we once again lost power.
So often this is what happens in our walk with God. Something happens that affects us, either we sin, or someone sins against us. We don’t realize at first what effect it has had on us. How you live your lives affects others. You look to others for example. Others look to you for example. This happens whether you like it or not. There is a connection.
The sin causes a ‘power cut’. God is our source of power and it’s vital that we remain in Him – but when we sin we interrupt our connection. And a negative effect still lingers, even after we have restored the connection. We need to confess and repent of our sin, forgiving anyone we need to forgive, and then God can repair the damage that came in.
Prayer for today: Lord, I confess and repent of my sin, and ask you to restore the damage that came into my life because of my sin. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
