May His Everlasting Peace Be With You
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
If God were to search your heart this morning and examine your thoughts, what would he find? Fear? Worry? Discouragement? Loneliness? Every moment of every day, God is listening to your anxious thoughts. Your random worries – your stressed schedule – your stretched finances – your overwhelming choices – your distracted mind – your strained relationships. Yes, God knows about all your anxious thoughts, he has heard every one and he has an answer for you today.
Our answer comes from John 14, verse 27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
We are often aware of signs of strain that put pressure on our peace of mind. Anxiety can lead to stress and take its toll on our mental or physical well-being. Peace may seem a long way off as we struggle through the many issues that confront us. Especially if you find yourself in a place and there seems no logical way out. A friend might try to encourage with words like, “don’t worry,” or “everything will be all right.” But the friend has neither power nor authority to change the circumstances that may be causing us deep concern. It is God’s peace that keeps you safe and grounded.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, I thank You that I can depend on You when the storms of life are raging. Thank You for reminding me that in You I can find peace. Thank you for being my shield and defender, and my peace. Amen.
