Welcome His Presence
Now it was told King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness. 2 Samuel 6:12
In the Old Testament, the Ark of the Covenant represented the presence of God among His people. Wherever the Ark rested, the people recognized that God Himself was there. Obed-Edom made a life-changing decision when he welcomed the Ark into his home. In doing so, he welcomed the presence of the Lord into every area of his life, and Scripture tells us that his household was blessed because of it. This caused me to wonder, what are we willing to do to get close to God?
Obed-Edom teaches us that inviting God’s presence is not just a momentary experience reserved for church services or special occasions. It is an intentional decision to make room for Him daily in our homes, our thoughts, our conversations, and even in the hidden places of our hearts.
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You for inviting me into Your presence. Help me to open every area of my life to You and to walk in obedience to Your ways. Amen.
