Understanding The Morning
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. — Lamentations 3:22–23
There is something quietly powerful about the rhythm of morning. No matter how heavy yesterday felt, its regrets, mistakes, or unanswered questions, after resting, the morning arrives without asking permission. Light breaks in, steady and sure, reminding us that endings are rarely as final as they seem.
This is where Lamentations 3:22-23 comes in; it says, “his mercies never come to an end.” This verse invites us to anchor our hearts in a truth that doesn’t shift with circumstance: God’s love is not fragile. It does not wear thin under the weight of our failures or fade with time. It is steadfast, meaning unchanging, enduring, and reliable. While much in life feels uncertain, this love remains a constant foundation.
Even more personal is the promise of mercy that renews daily. Mercy is not rationed out sparingly; it is replenished in abundance. Each morning is not just a continuation of life, but an invitation to begin again, to receive grace again, to trust again.
Prayer for today: Faithful God, thank You for Your love that never runs dry and Your mercy that greets me each morning. Help me release what I cannot change and receive the grace You freely give. Teach me to trust in Your constancy, even when life feels uncertain. Let my heart rest in the truth that You are always faithful. Help me to embrace Your fresh start today and extend that mercy to myself and others. Amen
