Mary Magdalene – From Bound to First Witness
Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. Mark 16:9, NKJV
Before she followed Jesus faithfully, Mary Magdalene was tormented. In the Gospel of Mark 16, we learn she had been delivered from seven demons. Her flaw? Spiritual bondage. Her mess? A past marked by torment. But deliverance, just one encounter with the Savior changed her direction. Mary was no longer bound.
She stayed near the cross when others fled. She went to the tomb while it was still dark. And she became the first witness of the resurrected Christ. The one once bound became the first to proclaim, “I have seen the Lord.” God entrusted resurrection news to a woman society once dismissed.
In this Year of Purpose, remember: deliverance positions you for declaration. The depth of your freedom will determine the boldness of your witness.
Prayer for today: Jesus, thank You for freedom. Where I was once bound, You brought liberty. Help me stay close to You not just in miracles, but in suffering. Make me faithful in dark mornings. And let my life declare that I have seen the Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
