The Power of Grace in Our Relationships
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matthew 6:14
Grace has a unique power to transform our relationships. When we remember how much grace we’ve been given, we are far more likely to extend that grace to others. This doesn’t mean overlooking sin or pretending things didn’t hurt us. It means choosing to forgive, choosing to respond with patience, and choosing to show kindness, even when it’s not deserved.
When we forget the grace we’ve received, it becomes easy to respond harshly to others. But when we’re deeply aware of God’s ongoing grace in our own lives, it becomes much easier to extend grace to those around us. Jesus knew this power. That’s why He calls us to forgive others just as He has forgiven us.
We can’t give what we don’t recognize we have. The more we remember God’s forgiveness and grace toward us, the more we’re able to offer that same grace to others. This doesn’t mean we’re perfect at it but it means we continually return to the source of grace, allowing it to shape how we treat the people around us.
Food for thought:
Are there people I’m struggling to show grace toward?
How can I remind myself of God’s grace toward me in those moments?
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You for Your grace in my life. Help me to remember the grace You’ve shown me, so I can pass it on to others. Strengthen me to forgive, to be patient, and to love with the same grace You give me every day. Amen.
