Choosing Trust Over Control
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
Today’s reading is a famous verse from the book of Proverbs, inviting us to trust God. Trusting God fully means more than believing He can guide us; it means releasing our need to control outcomes. Often, we want God’s direction while still holding tightly to our own plans. Yet Proverbs calls us to wholehearted trust, not partial surrender. When we acknowledge God in all our ways, we invite Him into every decision, every conversation, and every step.
Jesus Himself modeled this surrender. Before engaging the crowds, performing miracles, or teaching, He sought time alone with the Father. In those quiet moments, Jesus aligned His will with God’s will. If the Son of God needed that place of trust and guidance, how much more do we?
As you begin this day, choose trust over control. Invite God into your plans, your thoughts, and your steps. Ask Him not only what to do, but how to walk patiently, humbly, and faithfully. Surrender doesn’t weaken us; it strengthens us. When we entrust our lives to Him each morning, we can move through the day with confidence, knowing we are not walking alone.
Let today be a reminder that God is both willing and able to direct your path. Your responsibility is not to figure everything out, but to stay close to Him and follow where He leads.
Prayer for today: Lord, I choose to trust You with all my heart today. Help me release control and stop leaning on my own understanding. Teach me to acknowledge You in every area of my life. Order my steps, guide my decisions, and shape my heart to walk in humility and obedience. Thank You for walking with me and for faithfully directing my path. In Jesus’ name, Amen
