The Sweet Aroma of the Morning
Aaron shall burn on it (the altar) sweet incense every morning; when he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it. And when Aaron lights the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations. Exodus 30:7-8
Did you know that the first thing you give your attention to in the morning often shapes how you see the rest of your day? In the Old Testament, God instructed that sweet incense be offered every morning and every evening in the Tabernacle. This was not mere ritual it was a reminder that God desired to meet daily with His people.
Each morning, Jesus invites us to offer praise and worship from our hearts. Morning prayer is powerful because it happens before our minds grow busy, before praise turns into complaining, and before the weight of the day sets in. Simply waking up is a gift, and offering God praise for another day of life is a sweet fragrance to Him.
Be encouraged today to offer up the aroma of praise. Even if everything is not going well, God is still good.
Prayer for today: Lord, as we enter this first full week of 2026, we come before You with grateful hearts and a song of praise. We thank You for Your goodness, Your faithfulness, and Your patience with us. Thank You for new mercies each morning and for the gift of another day. Help us to seek You first, to offer praise before worry, and worship before distraction. May our prayers rise to You like sweet incense, bringing You honor and delight. Guide our steps, guard our hearts, and let our lives reflect Your glory today and always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
