Monday Morning Manna
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord! Psalm 27:14
God often works in what seems like mysterious ways to man but, in the end we realize it was the best way all along. The Holy Spirit moved in our service yesterday as He worked together the pieces from our Saturday to Sunday services. Yesterday in our Zoom service Sis. Shanell Bender shared with us her journey from nursing school to nurse, to encourage us to wait on the Lord. Speaking from Psalm 27 her message titled – How Are You Waiting? I am thankful to be an eyewitness to the move of God.
In Psalm 27:14 Sis. Shanell shared with us one word that can take us through all that is happening around us. There is just one word, a final and all-sufficient word of wide application, and relevant to every one of us, no matter the trials we face today – wait. Wait on the Lord and be of good courage.
We must understand there is a deeper work that God is working within you why He has allowed you to be in a place of waiting. Yes the words written in Psalm 27 are of difficult times which you cannot wait to get out of. However, it is in this time God is doing the deeper work. We desire relief. But that relief seems delayed and there seems to be no end to this moment of trial. This is exactly what Sis. Shanell thought as she was asked to travel down the same road of taking the nursing exam. And then fear begins to surround us and we are tempted to become bitter, impatient, or to take matters into our own hands in desperation. It is these moments we must trust that God’s hand is at work in our situation. Listening to yesterday’s message I am reminded that waiting on the Lord is an intense, spiritual activity for the believer. It requires that you pull at every fiber within to hold onto what you know to be true. It means that you believe that God will fulfill His promises and He will supply you with the grace that you need. Once we understand that God’s promises are yes and amen, we can wait with patience.
During this waiting period we must not lose our joy in the Lord. We must wait with a prayer, wait with a smile, and wait with praise. In the midst of our waiting we might think “I cannot bear this for another moment. I can’t understand why this is happening. I might lose my job, and I have to support my family. My heart is breaking with grief. Any more waiting will surely crush me” and I’d like to tell you all these thoughts are normal. This is why we need to pray. Talk to God and develop your relationship with Him while you wait. When we pray we shift our focus from what is to what can be. While we wait, Sis. Shanell encouraged us to look to God as He continues to work out a much better plan that what we initially had in store. During the waiting periods our dependence and trust in God depends.
This week, let us wait confidently and silently and humbly before the eternal Jehovah. And He will strengthen our hearts. For he who waits upon the Lord shall see the Lord and will experience the Lord’s loving kindness breaking through and will feel eternal glory in his heart.
