Jesus Our Anchor in the Storm
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Hebrews 6:19
Life is unpredictable. One moment everything feels calm and secure, and the next, the winds of hardship are howling. A single phone call, a text, a doctor’s report, or even an unexpected bill, any of these can send waves crashing over your heart. You start to wonder, Will I make it through this storm?
God whispers in those moments, “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
He reminds us not to create a second storm with our reactions, but to remain anchored trusting that He’s still in control, even when we are not.
Drifting doesn’t always come with noise or drama. It’s slow. Subtle. Quiet. You skip prayer one day, then church the next. You stop reading your Bible and start relying on your own wisdom. Before you realize it, your heart has drifted far from the shore where you once stood strong in faith. The enemy knows this. He doesn’t always attack with a storm, sometimes he uses a current. A slow pull of distraction. A gentle tide of compromise. A wave of discouragement. Before long, your passion cools, your confidence weakens, and your peace is replaced with worry.
That’s why we need an anchor, something that does not move when everything else does. Jesus is that Anchor. When life’s winds howl and the waves crash, your hope in Christ will hold you steady. Hebrews 6:19 says, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
Prayer for today: Loving Father, help us to anchor our hearts in You. When life is unpredictable and storms rise without warning, remind me that You are steady, unshakable, and sure. Keep us from drifting away in fear or discouragement. Help us to trust Your timing, Your Word, and Your love. Be my firm foundation when everything else feels unstable. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
