Stay Connected to The Anchor
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Hebrews 6:19
Being connected in the body of Christ is crucial for spiritual, emotional, and practical support, as it fosters unity, purpose, and mutual encouragement, reflecting the deep, love-based relationships intended by God. This connection provides a sense of belonging, as believers are called to be family, sharing in one another’s joys and sorrows, and helping each other grow in faith and fulfill their God-given purposes. We see this in the account of the paralyzed man written in The New Testament. Mark 2:3–5 says “And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven.’”
In this story, the paralyzed man’s connections made all the difference. He had four friends who refused to let the crowd or the roof stop them. They got their buddy up on the roof, tore a hole in it, and lowered him down right in front of Jesus. Their priority was clear: to get their friend to the Healer, no matter the cost. That’s the kind of connection we all need. Without this community, individuals risk spiritual stagnation and isolation.
The paralyzed man couldn’t anchor himself. But he was connected to four faithful friends who carried him. And when Jesus saw what they did, Scripture says, “When Jesus saw their faith…” not the man’s, but theirs. It was their faith that moved Jesus to act. Sometimes it’s not your strength that gets you through it’s the strength of the people praying, believing, and standing beside you.
We are not called to do this thing called life on our own. We are made for connection. God connected Adam with Eve in the beginning of times because He understood as it says in Ecclesiastes 4:9–10, “Two are better than one… For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.”
God never designed us to weather storms in isolation. Grab onto someone or be someone’s rope. Be someone’s reminder that they’re not drifting alone. When you’re anchored together, storms don’t destroy you, they deepen you. They remind you that you’re not just holding onto Jesus; He’s holding onto you…and He’s surrounded you with people who will help you stay anchored until the storm passes.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the community of believers, the body of Christ, and ask for Your guidance and strength to love them as You have loved us. Anchor our souls in Your hope, so that I will not be tossed about by the storms of life. Amen
