Safer in the Storm
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Hebrews 6:19
Recently, a nor’easter swept through our area. As I watched the trees bend beneath the weight of the wind and rain, I was reminded of a powerful truth found in God’s Word: “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” — Hebrews 6:19
Just like an anchor holds a ship steady in turbulent waters, God anchors us in life’s fiercest storms. With Him, we are not only held, we are safe. Scripture repeatedly shows that we are far safer in the storm with God than we could ever be outside of it without Him.
Think of Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee. The disciples were terrified, yet Jesus was with them, not outside the storm, but right there in the boat. His presence didn’t always prevent the storm, but it made all the difference through it.
I would rather be with Jesus in the middle of chaos than in the most luxurious, comfortable place on earth without Him. Why? Because His presence is our true peace. His nearness is our unshakable security.
So when the winds rise and the rain falls, remember: He is your anchor. He is your refuge. And He is always with you especially in the storm.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my anchor in life’s storms. When the winds howl and the waves crash, remind me that Your presence is my peace. Help me to trust You more deeply, knowing that I am never alone. Strengthen my faith so that I would rather be with You in the storm than anywhere else without You. Be my refuge, my strength, and my ever-present help in trouble. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
