He Hears, He Answers
But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears. Psalm 18:6
David’s confidence in God’s ability to deliver him is rooted in experience. He had seen God’s faithfulness time and time again, and because of that, he knew that God could and would save him from his enemies. Just as David did, we too can call on the Lord with full assurance, knowing that He is always there for us, ready to help and ready to deliver.
When we cry out to God, we are never met with silence. There’s no hesitation in our hearts, our call to God is one of trust, of knowing that He can rescue us. He is our stronghold, our shelter, our defender, and the only One worthy of our praise because He alone can deliver us from any danger, any enemy, any fear.
God’s ear is always tuned to the cries of His children. Just as a parent drops everything to respond when their child calls for help, God is attentive to our every plea. There’s no waiting on hold, no busy signal—every prayer, no matter how urgent or small, is heard clearly.
We also see that in our times of deepest distress, God’s response is never one of indifference. The cry of the psalmist “reached His ears” because God is not distant; He is near to us, ready and willing to respond. The Lord’s attention is fully on us in those moments, and His actions are always in line with His perfect wisdom, love, and power.
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You for being a God who hears me in my distress. When I cry out to You, I know my prayers are not unheard, my cries are not ignored. You are ever-present, listening to every plea, ready to act on my behalf. I trust that You will always deliver what is best, and I thank You for Your faithful answers, whether in the way I expect or in the ways You know I need. May I continue to turn to You in every moment, knowing You are always near. Amen
