The Lord is My Rock
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. Psalm 18:2
The phrase “The Lord is my rock” is a powerful metaphor that captures the essence of what it means to find true strength, stability, and security in God. It paints a picture of God as an unwavering, immovable foundation—just like a solid rock that provides both support and protection, no matter what storms or challenges we may face.
One of the most profound attributes of God, for me personally, is the way He’s consistently described as our rock. In Deuteronomy 32:4, we read, “He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God Who does no wrong, upright and just is He.” This imagery is not only a reassurance but also a promise that God is unchanging and dependable. His strength never falters, His faithfulness never wavers, and His love is our constant anchor.
I’ve found that in moments of weakness or fear, the truth that God is my rock brings peace to my soul. When the ground around me feels uncertain or unstable, I can rest in the truth that God is my firm foundation, my place of safety, and my unshakable stronghold. He is not a distant or abstract concept, but an intimate presence that I can run to for shelter. He is my shield—my protector—and the power that saves me. When I don’t know where to turn, He is my refuge, holding me steady in the storm.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, You are my rock, my fortress, and my savior. Thank You for being the constant in my life, the One who holds me up when I feel weak, and the One who provides protection when I feel vulnerable. Help me to always run to You, to trust in Your strength, and to rest in the safety that comes from being in Your care. I praise You for being unshakable and always faithful. Thank You for being my refuge and my stronghold. Amen.
