The Source of Joy
I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. Psalm 9:1
Joy springs from a deep, intimate knowledge of God and a heart that recalls His wondrous deeds. In Psalm 9, David begins by declaring his gratitude with all his heart. He doesn’t just thank God for what He’s done; he recalls God’s wonderful deeds and takes time to rejoice in who God is. The psalmists, with their heartfelt prayers and passionate worship, remind us of the power of thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is not just an occasional act but should be the center of our hearts. We will never exhaust the reasons to give thanks for God’s marvelous deeds, His mercy, His grace, and His unending faithfulness. But we can always begin each day with a sincere, “Thank You, Lord,” offering our hearts in humble worship.
Thanksgiving leads us to a lifestyle of worship, a constant acknowledgment of God’s goodness and sovereignty. It is through thankfulness that we align our hearts with God’s will, trusting in His promises, and praising Him for the past, present, and future works He has in store.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, we come before You today with hearts full of gratitude and praise. You are so worthy of all our thanks and worship! We marvel at Your infinite love and mercy, which are beyond comprehension. We trust that as we live with hearts of thanksgiving, we will experience Your joy in every circumstance. Thank You, Jesus, for Your unending love and grace. Amen.
