Choosing Right Over Easy
Do not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21
There are moments in life when doing the wrong thing feels right—when holding a grudge feels justified, when speaking harshly offers a surge of satisfaction, or when choosing revenge seems fair. Our emotions whisper that it’s okay to strike back, to withdraw grace, especially when we’ve been hurt or betrayed. But God doesn’t call us to do what feels good; He calls us to do what is good.
Feelings aren’t always faithful guides. Often, they lure us toward what is easy or instantly gratifying rather than what is righteous. Doing the right thing might cost us comfort. It might require swallowing pride, letting go of resentment, and forgiving those who may never say “I’m sorry.” But in that obedience, we find freedom and align ourselves with the heart of Christ.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, help me to choose what is right, even when it doesn’t feel good. Help me to trust and believe that Your ways are best for my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
