Junk Mail: What is lovely?
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8
Last week marked the start of spring, one of the most beautiful times of the year. The flowers begin to bloom, and trees that we once thought were dead come back to life. As we see the vibrant colors of flowers and inhale their sweet scents, we are reminded of the beauty God has created. These moments are lovely, and they serve as a reminder to fix our thoughts on what is true, lovely, and pure.
To think on what is lovely means focusing on what is beautiful in God’s eyes—things that bring joy, harmony, and peace. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by negativity and criticism in our world, but God calls us to instead focus on the loveliness around us. We see the loveliness of God’s creation in the blooming flowers, in the smiles of others, and in the simple acts of kindness that surround us every day. His beauty is all around us.
Today, take a moment to reflect on the beautiful things in your life. Whether it’s a blooming flower, a kind gesture from someone, or a peaceful moment in nature, choose to focus on the lovely things. Let them be reminders of the Creator who makes all things beautiful in His time. Shift your thoughts away from negativity and allow the beauty of God’s creation to fill your heart with joy.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to fix my thoughts on what is lovely. Fill my heart with Your beauty, and let me see the loveliness in Your creation, in others, and in every good thing. May I reflect Your love and beauty in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
