Revealed in the dark
He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him. Daniel 2:22
In the book of Daniel chapter 2, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has a troubling dream and is desperate for its interpretation. Through the wisdom of God Daniel interprets the dream as a prophecy of future kingdoms, with the stone representing God’s eternal kingdom that will ultimately destroy all earthly powers, leading to Nebuchadnezzar acknowledging Daniel’s God and elevating him to a high position in Babylon. This is where we find our verse for today. At the end of his interpretation Daniel says “He (God) reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him.” When darkness surrounds us, it can feel as though we are wandering without direction. But Daniel reminds us that God knows what is hidden in the dark.
Today, I want to remind you that God sees what we cannot and has already prepared a path for us to follow. God’s light is not limited by shadows or obscurity—it pierces through and reveals truth. With this truth, I invite you to spend time in prayer today, asking God to reveal any hidden truths you need to see. Trust that His light will guide you even when you feel unsure of your next step.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, help me to trust in Your vision when I cannot see. Remind me that Your light dwells even in the darkest places. Amen.
