Falling Into Trust
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
Have you ever seen the trust fall challenge? Someone stands behind you, arms outstretched, and you’re asked to fall backward, trusting they will catch you. It sounds simple, but in reality, it’s not so easy. There’s always that hesitation—What if they don’t catch me? What if I hit the ground?
And this is why the writer of Proverbs in the Bible says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know” (Proverbs 3:5). An older translation says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”. I like the Amplified Bible for this verse: “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding”.
When life feels uncertain or the ground beneath us seems shaky, God invites us to trust Him completely. He promises to hold us steady, even when we feel like we’re falling. God has never failed, and He won’t start now.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You for always being there to catch me when I fall. Help me to trust You completely, even when I can’t see the outcome. Strengthen my faith and remind me that You are my firm foundation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
