Rich in What Truly Matters
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in gory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
Depending on where you are in life, and who you are talking to the definition of riches will vary. This Christmas season, it’s easy to feel the weight of what you don’t have. Budgets may be stretched, and the pressure to give and receive can overshadow the true wealth we have in Christ. But let this be your reminder: your riches are not found in your bank account—they are found in your relationship with your heavenly Father.
The riches you have access to are beyond price. Joy that sustains you in hard times, peace that calms your heart amid life’s storms, and comfort that wraps around you like a warm blanket—these are treasures that cannot be bought or lost. God, in His infinite love, has made these gifts abundantly available to you through Christ.
Instead of focusing on what you lack materially, focus on the eternal riches you’ve been given. Your worth and wealth are tied to the Creator of the universe, not to what you can or cannot purchase.
So take time today to thank God for the spiritual blessings He has poured into your life. Make a list of the intangible riches you have in Christ—joy, peace, comfort, love—and reflect on how they sustain you. Share this perspective with someone who may also need encouragement.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You for the riches of Your grace that cannot be measured in material terms. Help me to focus on the joy, peace, and comfort You freely give, especially during this Christmas season. Teach me to trust in Your provision and to share the abundance of Your love with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
