Spiritual Armor: Breastplate of Righteousness 😇
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth. Ephesians 6:14
The breastplate protects the heart—a vital organ in both the physical and spiritual sense. Just as a soldier wouldn’t go into battle without guarding his chest, we should not start the day without protecting the heart. We need to guard our hearts against the attacks of the enemy. The breastplate of righteousness isn’t about our righteousness; it’s about Christ’s righteousness covering us. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are clothed in His righteousness, meaning that God sees us as forgiven and redeemed, not condemned or stained by sin.
This righteousness is both our identity and our protection. It reminds us that we are not defined by our past mistakes or by what others think of us, but by Christ’s redeeming work. This gives us the confidence to stand firm, knowing that we are secure in Him. But the breastplate also calls us to live a righteous life. With His righteousness covering us, we’re empowered to live in ways that reflect God’s character—choosing integrity, honesty, and purity. Today, ask yourself: Are you putting on the breastplate of Christ’s righteousness, or are you relying on your own effort to be “good enough”?
Take sometime today to reflect on your standing with God. Do you feel guilty or condemned? Remember, your righteousness comes from Christ.
Prayer for today: Father, thank You for covering me with Your righteousness. I know that it’s not my works that make me worthy, but Your grace. Help me to live in a way that reflects Your righteousness and guards my heart against attacks. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
