God Calls Us into His Presence
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:16
From birth, we learn the rules of self-reliance as we strain and struggle from dependence toward independence, and frankly, prayer does not fit into this transition. Try to explain the concept of help to any toddler and you’ll be faced with resistance. Although prayer is alien to our proud human nature, somehow, at some point along life’s journey, most of us fall to our knees, bow our heads, fix our attention on God and just plain pray. Prayer is an invitation into the very presence of God.
Through prayer God calls us into His presence to experience His peace. He calls us to come before Him, not with fear or hesitation, but with confidence, knowing that He is always ready to listen. God doesn’t ask for perfection; He asks for a heart that seeks Him. As you read today and consider your personal relationship with prayer, remember that God desires your presence as much as He desires to pour out His love and grace upon you.
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You for calling me into Your presence. Thank you for always being available to speak with me. Thank You for giving me open access to You. Help me to approach You with confidence, knowing You are always ready to listen. Amen
