Sharing The Joy – Be a vessel
These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. John 15:11
The human spirit, in a rightful relationship with God, is intended to be the life source for our bodies. This is at the core of our being. The physical body is designed to reflect the condition of the heart, so when the human spirit is defiled, say through betrayal or disappointment, then the whole body can become damaged and trapped by the enemy in `dysfunction, disarrangement, and disorder`. Thankfully Jesus knows all about the condition of our human spirit. He sees the deep damage that has been caused in people’s lives and so He stepped into this world and declared, `I`ve come to bind up the brokenhearted`, and `Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of God` or as it has been written about for the past eight days in John 15:11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”
Our part in the healing process is to face the truth about the relationships which we have experienced in our lives, including our relationship with God. We may need to forgive those who have hurt us not honored covenant within the family, and we may need to confess where we`ve not honored covenant with others, including with God. When we do forgive or be honest with our own shortcomings then we are stifling joy. During these moments we cannot experience true joy because we are hidden under a blanket of unforgiveness or bitterness.
Truth exposes the enemy and forgiveness dis-empowers him. It takes back your joy that was stolen. This allows God to bring a new place of freedom and wholeness to our lives, even to the deepest wounds of the human spirit.
What a great God we have!
Prayer for today: Father God, help me to understand the significance of covenant relationships. Where things in my past have brought defilement to my human spirit, I bring these to You today, acknowledging my sin and forgiving the sins of others against me, so I might know Your deep restoration in my life. Amen.
