Joy Through Obedience
These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. John 15:11
Jesus’ joy is also linked to our obedience. In John 15:9-11, Jesus spells out the three basic elements of faith: obedience, love, and joy. Love is the center; it holds obedience and joy together. For when we love, we are likely to respect, obey, and discover joy as a result of it. When we disobey, it’s because we don’t fully understand why it’s unloving; we don’t realize that our sin interferes with our ability to love and to be loved. On the other hand, when we obey because we love, we experience great joy.
When we follow His commands and live according to His will, we experience a deeper sense of fulfillment and joy.
Today, I encourage you to think about areas in your life where you can better align with God’s will. Ask Him for the strength to obey His commands and to experience the joy that comes from living a life pleasing to Him.
Prayer for today: God, I want to obey Your commands and live according to Your will. Help me to follow You faithfully and to experience the fullness of joy that comes from obedience. Amen.
