Singing My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to hill. Psalm 95:1-2
“My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” is a hymn that powerfully declares the firm foundation of our faith. Written by Edward Mote, it begins with the stirring words: “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.” From what we know of his life, “My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less” was just as much an anthem. This hymn reminds us that our ultimate hope and security rest in Jesus Christ alone.
In a world where circumstances constantly change and uncertainty often looms, it is vital to anchor our hope in something unshakeable. Psalm 95:1-2 calls us to come to the Lord with songs of joy and thanksgiving, recognizing Him as the Rock of our salvation. When our hope is built on Jesus, we stand on solid ground, unmovable by the storms of life. His righteousness and sacrifice provide the assurance and steadfastness we need.
Prayer for today: Gracious God, thank You for being the solid rock on which we can build our lives. As we sing “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less,” remind us to anchor our hope in Jesus alone. Amen
