Wilderness Provision
Some wandered in the wilderness, lost and homeless. ‘Lord, help!’ they cried in their trouble, and he rescued them from their distress. – Psalm 107:4, 6
Have you ever walked through a desert or been in a desolate area? If so, then you can identify with the cry of the Psalmist in today’s verse. God hears our cries even when we feel lost and helpless. Just as He guided the Israelites through the wilderness, He guides us through our personal deserts. Trust in His provision and guidance, even when the way seems unclear.
The people of Israel often found themselves in the desert, face to face with desolation. Over many years of being in the desert, they became exhausted and discouraged. But we know they cried out to God, and He heard them and rescued them from their distress.
Whenever we are facing seasons of uncertainty, lack, and loneliness I encourage you to cry out to God. Cry out to God, trusting that He will lead you to a place of safety and provision.
Today, reflect on how God has provided for you in past wilderness experiences. Take a moment to identify a current or a past wilderness in your life. If it is current, write a prayer asking for God’s guidance and provision in this area, and then spend time listening for His direction. If it is a past season, write a prayer of thanksgiving, thanking God for His provision and strength that kept you.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, when I feel lost and alone, remind me of Your presence and provision. Guide me through the wilderness and lead me to the place of rest. I trust in You to guide me and when I am weak, I trust in You to remain my firm foundation. I know you can, and I believe that You will. Amen.
