And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Mark 16:15
Just before Jesus left earth and ascended to heaven, He gathered His disciples who had been with Him for the past three years. While they were sitting around a table sharing a meal, Jesus commissioned them in Mark 16:15 “And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
In this powerful command from Jesus, we are reminded of our purpose as followers of Christ. Just as He instructed His disciples to go into all the world and share the Good News, so are we called to do the same today.
This good news is that Jesus has brought the arrival of the Kingdom of God to earth, and that through His death and resurrection, He has made a way for ALL people to have a new life in Him. The message of the Gospel is not meant to be kept to ourselves; it is meant to be shared with everyone we encounter. It is a message of hope, love, and redemption—a message that has the power to transform lives and bring light into the darkest of places.
Jesus had spent most of His ministry proclaiming the arrival of the Kingdom of God, which is the rule and reign of God. The right response to this arrival was for people to turn from their old ways and believe in Jesus.
When Jesus commissioned His disciples, He didn’t just send them out on their own. He promised to be with them always, even to the end of the age. Likewise, as we go forth to share the Good News, we can take comfort in the fact that Jesus goes before us, empowering us with His Spirit and guiding our steps.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, use us as vessels of Your love and grace, that many may come to know You and experience the joy of salvation. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
