God’s Everlasting Love
Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself. Jeremiah 31:3
If I were to ask you how to describe the love of God, I am sure there are many words that would come to mind: unconditional, kind, merciful, powerful, life-changing, passionate, and the list would go on. Yet, there is at least one more aspect that gives this word so much greater depth and meaning: everlasting! His love for us will continue for all eternity. It never decreases or subsides. This is how God’s love is described in Jeremiah 31:3 it says ‘Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.’ At all times, in all conditions, regardless of who we are or what we have done, God loves us.
Throughout Scripture we read that the Lord is constantly drawing us to Himself that we might know Him on a personal level and experience the fullness of His love for us. What a great God! How compassionate, kind, and everlasting!
God’s love is eternal and unchanging. From the beginning of time to eternity, His love for us remains constant and steadfast. Reflect on a time when you felt God’s presence and love surrounding you, giving you comfort and peace in the midst of uncertainty.
Today as you go about the day remember that you are loved. God loves you with an everlasting love. God, the infinitely holy, sovereign creator of all loves you. The one true capital G, God who is worthy of all worship and all creation, yes, He loves you. He who is all-powerful, all-knowing, who is holy and just, and pure beyond our imagination. He, God loves you so much that He gave His only son to die for you.
Prayer for today: Almighty God, thank you for your everlasting love that never fades or diminishes. May I find comfort and security in knowing that your love for me will endure forever. Amen.
