Praise Our Maker
Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker. Psalm 95:6
During a time of worship, I sang a well-known song. The song was called, ‘Here I am to worship’, written by Michael W. Smith. As I was singing, certain lines really struck me. I’d like to share them with you.
The first line that really struck me was ‘Here I am to worship’. I asked myself, “Am I really here to worship, or am I just singing because I like the song?” The next line was ‘Here I am to bow down’. Again, there was the question of whether I was really bowing down to Jesus. I took a few moments to search my heart.
Those were two very important questions. But there was more to come. ‘Here I am to say that You’re my God’. But am I really saying “You’re my God” from my heart? Are You my God in every area of my life? Do I really mean it? The next few lines say “Do I believe that He is altogether lovely? Altogether worthy?”. Do you believe this?
Yes, God is altogether wonderful. He really is. Yes, I know we are only 12 days into the New Year, but if we don’t start to thank Him now then when will we? Just look back at this week and see just how wonderful God has been.
I encourage you to sing this song and ask yourself the same questions. Allow God to show you and speak to you. Perhaps you might like to listen to this song for yourself, or look up scriptures about worship, and how they speak of making Jesus Lord of every area of our lives, and bowing down, and surrendering to Him.
Prayer for today: Father God, I thank You that I can come and truly worship You. Lord, help me to not lose sight of the fact it’s You I am worshipping. I don’t want to sing words just because I like the song. Please show me today Your loveliness, and how worthy You are. I give thanks for all the wonderful things You have done in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
