God’s Perfect Plans for Christmas
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
Every year, I make a Christmas list, meticulously planning, taking notes throughout the year and editing to ensure no one is forgotten. It’s a satisfying feeling when the gifts are wrapped and crossed off the list—a mission accomplished. This process made me reflect on God’s Word in Matthew 7:11 ‘If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!’. This verse reminds us that even flawed humans can give good gifts to their children. How much more, then, can we expect our perfect and loving Father in heaven to give us good and perfect gifts? The essence of Christmas lies not just in the exchange of earthly presents but in the profound truth that God gave us the greatest gift of all—His Son, Jesus Christ.
God’s plans for us are just as important as the ones we have for ourselves. Just as I am intentional about finding the perfect Christmas gift, I know our Father is intentional about providing us with the perfect gift. God, unlike a meticulous list-checker, isn’t assessing whether we’ve been naughty or nice. Instead, He awaits with arms wide open, ready for us to let Him into every aspect of our lives. His plans are not for disaster but for a future filled with hope, a perfect gift personalized for each of us. This is His perfect plan for our lives.
Prayer for today: Father, forgive me for the times I decided that I know best. Thank You for not dealing with me according to what I deserve, but showing me true love and forgiveness. This Christmas season, guide my heart to focus on You, and grant me the strength to fulfill the purpose for which You created me. Today, I choose to seek You and obey Your Word. Amen.
