Too Busy: Lessons from The Grinch
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 28:11
Tis the season of hustle and bustle, where the familiar tale of The Grinch often finds its way onto our screens. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, a timeless classic cherished by millions, unfolds in Whoville, a place filled with Christmas cheer, except for the Grinch. Guided by the sweet Cindy Lou Who, the Grinch learns that Christmas is more than presents and festivities; it’s about the warmth of being with loved ones.
In the midst of our own busyness, we can relate. The demands of life can lead us to neglect precious moments with God, causing our spiritual well to run dry.
When we find ourselves running on ‘E,’ feeling weary, and drained, we can find strength in God’s Word. Yet, the beauty lies in God’s unwavering presence. Even in our dry moments, God promises to breathe life into us, to revive our spirits. He tells us in Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus extends a comforting invitation: “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
As we prioritize our relationship with Him, the burdens of our hectic schedules begin to lift. So, take a moment today to pause, to breathe, and to be present with the One who offers rest to the weary. Allow God to infuse your busyness with His peace and watch as the chaos transforms into a symphony of His grace. If you’re feeling weary and parched, take this time to seek God’s revitalizing breath.
