The Posture of Thanksgiving
Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Psalm 100:1
In the symphony of Psalms, Psalm 100 stands out as a resounding crescendo of gratitude. It’s a poetic call to thanksgiving, an invitation to enter God’s presence not with hesitancy but with jubilant thanksgiving.
The psalmist begins with an enthusiastic directive: “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth!” (Psalm 100:1). It’s a universal call, extending beyond the boundaries of circumstance or condition. This proclamation echoes the understanding that thanksgiving isn’t contingent on our circumstances but is a response to the character of God.
Even with all of our troubles, the USA has so much for which to be thankful. Most of us lack for nothing, except for the lack of gratitude. There are many believers in other nations who are full of joy and gratitude, and they have nothing in comparison to what American’s have under their roofs. It tells me that thankful hearts do not come from what we have or do not have.
A heart of thanksgiving and gratitude comes from within. True thanksgiving does not even depend upon your relationships or lack thereof. Thankfulness truly is an attitude of gratitude. How is your attitude? Can you be thankful, no matter what? It’s my challenge for you in 2024, more days filled with thanksgiving and praise.
Prayer for today: Lord, I am thankful for all You have allowed in my life because I have grown closer to You through it all. Despite my circumstances You have given me peace and joy in You. I am thankful for Your full acceptance and unconditional love. In Jesus Name. Amen
