You Turn
He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Psalm 23:3
I’m a little directionally challenged—I can understand the general directions, but as soon as someone gives me too much information—I’m lost. Often in these moments I keep going instead of stopping to check the GPS or ask for directions. One hour many miles later, I am lost and frustrated all because I refused to turn around.
Don’t hesitate to embrace the power of a “You-Turn” in life. If you find yourself on the wrong path, don’t be afraid to change and turn around. If you find yourself going down the wrong path, you must, with God’s help, turn it around.
This happens to many of us on the life journey. We think we’re going the right way until we arrive and realize that we’re not where we want to be. Some of us can get upset at God, ourselves, and others. While many of us just keep doing what we’ve done even though we know we’re in the wrong place. It’s essential to take a moment to pause, reflect, and redirect your course. Life presents us with numerous opportunities to reconsider our choices, words, relationships, and behavior.
Remember, we are not bound by any shackles or limitations. We possess the freedom to explore the vast universe, love whoever our heart leads us to, worship in our own unique way, and exhibit honor in all we do. However, in the New Testament we are reminded not to abuse this freedom and if we find ourselves lost return to the Father in repentance.
There is no rule dictating that we must remain confined to detours and wrong directions. When we find ourselves lost we must return to the Father and seek Him for a new direction. James 1:5 says ‘If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
We can have knowledge of what is the right way to go, but lack the wisdom on how to apply that knowledge. It’s up to us to ask God for wisdom so that we aren’t wasting our time in the places He doesn’t want us. The Lord will generously provide the wisdom we need to get on the right path.
We have the capacity to discover paths that lead to true happiness and success. Reject any notion that depicts us as mere victims or casualties in life. Instead, trust that God always provides a way out of our deepest and darkest journeys. Psalm 23:3 says ‘He renews my strength” Let us all rejoice in this truth and say, “Amen.”
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, I’ve been going the wrong way and I want to get on the right path according to Your will. Show me and I will follow. In Jesus’ name, amen.
