Peace
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8
It is greatly comforting to know that the reach of God’s love has no limits. Amidst the clamor and chaos of life, it is easy to lose sight of the truth found in God’s Word and who He truly is. However, it is vital to understand that God’s sovereignty surpasses any earthly or heavenly authority. His divine power supersedes all worldly systems. No existing regime or force can separate us from the boundless love of God. His love sustains us regardless of the oppression we encounter or how besieged we may feel. Through Jesus’ triumphant victory over death on the cross, He secured the ultimate triumph for our lives, both in this earthly realm and in the eternal kingdom. Rest assured, God’s perfect love carries us through every season, leading us to the promises of eternity.
Isaiah 30:15 says, “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.”
When we turn our focus off the distractions and place our hope in God, then we can rest quietly in God’s presence. When we rest in Him, His peace pierces our soul, invades our hearts and strengthens our confidence.
Instead of bringing up images of chaos and destruction, we will see Him. The One that is greater than all our fears and any storm we might face.
Whatever storm (physical or emotional) is frightening you today, remember God is greater than our storm.
Prayer for today: Lord, You remind us over and over again in your Word that you are always with us. You tell us not to fear and you draw us close into your Presence. You are the only place we can find refuge. Thank you for being a shelter in my times of storm. Amen.
