A Witness for God
But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. John 5:36
According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, witness is defined as one that gives evidence; one who testifies to its having taken place; specifically: to see, hear, or know by personal presence and perception. Today’s verse calls us to become witnesses for God. We are called to give evidence of His presence through our personal experience with Him. Not only are we to be witnesses, living testimonies of God’s power as believers we are also called to be the light of God’s goodness and His power.
Jesus’s works testifies to the fact that the Father sent Him. He was here to save us, to do His Fathers work. Not on His own mission but the mission of saving lives. For us it all boils down to the same thought. The Focus from the lesson: Lord, teach us to live as Jesus did, whose works confirmed what He professed. What about me? Am I a doer of the word? Does my life bear witness to God? Something to think about today.
Today, remind yourself. You are a living witness, a living testimony. You can lead someone to Jesus by the way you live your life. It is a lot to swallow but you are called to be salt and light for a purpose.
When we sacrifice who we are, we can become who God wants us to be.
