Unclaimed Peace
Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live. Psalm 116:2
When I was a young girl growing up, in church we would sing an old familiar hymn titled “What a friend we have in Jesus.” The lyrics went like this:
What a friend we have in Jesus. All our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer. Oh, what peace we often forfeit Oh, what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness, take it to the Lord in prayer.
I want to draw your attention to one line of this song. The songwriter states “Oh what peace we often forfeit, and oh what needless pain we bear.’ Why? The songwriter gives us the answer ‘All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.’
When we begin to carry everything to God in prayer, we will experience His peace. Your troubles will not cease, but you will find that your burdens are lifted because you have the “peace of God” within.
Prayer is a direct line to God throne room. Have you called on Him today? You should because not only is there power in prayer, but God Himself promises to incline his ear to your call.
As the Psalmist made his declaration in this text concerning the Lord his God, I too make my declaration that “I have no doubt that the Lord my God will always incline His ear to me when I pray,” therefore, I WILL call upon Him every day and in the midnight hour.
God is listening for your voice! My hope is that you are praying to him!
Prayer for today: Dear God, thank You for being my peace. We bless You for our lives, we give You praise for Your abundant mercy and grace we receive. Amen
