Secret Place
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1
It is said that Moses is the author of Psalm 91. It’s suggested that Moses wrote it during the 40 years of wandering through the wilderness. He experienced many dangers while leading over a million people through a hot desert without the protection of a large army or a permanent walled dwelling. Moses understood the secret power of Psalm 91. He knew of the numerous blessings that are found in the secret place of the Most High.
Did you know there is a place in God, a secret place, a safe place for those who want to seek refuge? It is a literal place of physical safety and security. In verse one, God is offering us more than protection; it’s as if He personally invites us in to dwell with Him.
Today we can identify with the word – fear. There is a lot of fear in our world. We have suffered greatly from the recent pandemic and with even the hint of news we assume the worst. But I want to encourage you this morning and remind you that you have access to a secret place, where you will find peace in the middle of all the chaos and it is of most importance that we point everyone we meet to that secret place so that they can find refuge and shelter through their personal storms too. The secret place is to be found in God.
If you are finding it hard to focus today, Psalm 91 lists a number of blessings that you have access to when you actively spend time hidden in the secret place of the most high God.
