Fastened to The Rock
When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. Luke 6:48
During the autumn the leaves dry up and it only takes a wind of 10 mph to blow them away. Yet still the tree remains. These trees made me think about how important it is to have our foundation firmly rooted on Jesus as the rock. Sometimes we may hold on to lesser things, thinking that our security lies in them, but when a storm hits us, these things don’t hold, and we can be knocked off balance, or even worse blown away. However, if our foundation is in Jesus, then no matter the force of the wind we can stand firm.
So how do we make sure we are firmly rooted on the rock? Luke 6:47-48 says, “As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.” Luke 6:47-48,
Jesus tells us we need to read God’s word and put it into practice. Let me encourage you today to read God’s word, meditate on it, and apply it to your life.
Prayer for today: Dear God, thank You that You are a firm foundation for me. Please teach me Your truth and help me to stay rooted in You. Amen.
