Go in God’s Strength
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Strength is a big deal, and it shows up in many areas of life and in many ways. After all, who doesn’t want to seem strong. In fact, when we consider sports, we all know, for the most part, the trophy goes to the strong, the prepared, or the well trained. However, when it comes to the kingdom of God this principle is the opposite. 2 Corinthians 12:8– 10 says ‘Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
God’s Word tells us that He works in our weakness. In Judges Chapter 6 we find Gideon a young soldier defeated by the Midianites and hiding in a winepress while threshing enough grain to keep his family alive. God instructed Gideon to go and fight for what is rightfully his. But Gideon did not feel very strong. Gideon didn’t feel he had much strength, but there is one thing he did have. Gideon had the wisdom to listen to the voice of God and obey. Gideon had enough strength to fulfill God’s will.
Gideon’s story proves that God can accomplish great things through people who forget about their human weakness, trust in God’s strength, and obey His guidance.
We need not to rely on self (our own strength) instead we ought to trust in the Lord and rely on His strength to see us through.
