If Only, Just A Touch
She said to herself, “If only I touch His cloak, I will be healed.” Matthew 9:21
Jesus is the Son of God, performed miracles, that’s what He did. He came to heal, encouraged, and restore. In Matthew chapter 9, we meet a woman. I can only imagine how this woman felt. For twelve years she had suffered. The way she suffered could not be easily seen on the outside. It was an internal ailment. Daily she had to deal with this sickness. Daily she dreamed of the day she would be delivered. She had spent all her money on doctors to tell her that she could not be fixed. This woman was broken and she knew it.
But one day, she hears that Jesus is in town and he is on his way to healing a dying girl. This was her chance! She had to move. She knew, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.” Can you imagine the hope that filled her with this news?
She believed that Jesus could heal her with just a touch. She took a risk, believing that if only she could get near to Jesus then she would be healed. She wanted to receive God’s touch. And when she did she was never the same again.
The woman in our Bible story today wanted to be touched by God. She was desperate and pushed forward to the Savior. Likewise, when we are desperate, we too will find a way to get close to the Master.
Prayer for today: Lord, I want your touch today. Show me the people who can be Jesus to me, and help me to share your love with others. Amen.
