Your Spiritual Taste Buds
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16
Personally speaking, I do not enjoy eating cold fruit. There is something about the sweet cold taste that does sit well with me. And so I tend to stay away from them altogether. This ultimately plays a role in my diet. When I go grocery shopping, I stick to foods that are appealing to me, even those which aren’t a healthier option. I chose food that I enjoy. Now, if we think of this in spiritual terms, while we would like to pick and choose God’s Word, in its entirety, must be a part of our daily diet. God’s Word is not a buffet where we get to choose what we want on our plates. Because sometimes, in choosing, we might forget to choose a healthy balanced spiritual diet.
We can’t pick and choose when it comes to God’s word. We need to come to a place where every single word that God has spoken is good for us. We can’t throw away correction, rebuke, and the truth that teaches us to learn obedience. We need to have a correct balance of truth and grace!
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, help me to have a balanced diet. Help me to understand Your love and grace, correction and rebuke which bring this truth to my heart. Amen.
