A Different Perspective
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10
When you sit in the window seat on a flight, there are two times most people actually look through the window. Once while it is taking off and once again when it’s time to land. Anything in between these two times are either pitch black or clear skies filled with clouds. This is not always the case, especially when you are traveling during weather conditions. What may seem as clear blue skies can actually be a dark overcast below. This is what the person on the ground is reporting, an overcast. Yet the person in the airplane is reporting clear blue skies. No wonder people say, behind every dark cloud, the sun is still shining. It’s all about your perspective.
This is why prayer is vital to the Christian life. Because we need to see things the way God sees them. We tend to see on the surface level until faith gets activated. When we pray, we are seeking to understand God’s ways and His will, and to see things from His perspective.
Today we must learn to have a right perspective in our lives; what I have called “The God Perspective.” How do we change our state of mind? How do we change our circumstances when trouble comes our way? How do we remain full of joy, hope, peace even when fear is knowing at our door? By seeing life the way God sees it.
Our heavenly Father knows that we do not need to panic and be afraid about things. He knows all about everything in our lives and I can sense Him saying, “Come and look at this from my perspective. You don’t need to be afraid!” Isn’t it wonderful that we have a heavenly Father who takes the time to listen to us and teach us? May we all take time to look to Him and let him show us things from His perspective.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, I slow my mind down to find rest in Your presence. I thank You: Lord, thank You that You know all things. Today, I ask that You help me to see things from Your perspective. Please help me to remember to look to You and let You show me how You see the things that I am afraid of or concerned about. Amen.
